The Liberal Origins of the War Against the Deep State

Foreign Policy's latest traces the intellectual lineage of today's anti-"deep state" politics back to 1970s liberal reformers -- namely the Church Committee, the Senate investigation that exposed CIA and FBI abuses and became the founding template for distrusting unaccountable intelligence bureaucracies.
